Patient Stories

Inspired by a true story, names and details have been changed to preserve the identity of the patient and confidentiality.

Ayman, a 59 year-old was referred to Emirates Rehab and Homecarefor extensive rehabilitation.

On admission, he was alert, well oriented, could feed and breathe on his own although he had issues with deteriorating hearing and vision.

Moderately built, he was able to walk with a walker but had balance difficulties.

Ayman was committed and cooperative throughout the rehab program.

He made gradual and steady progress.

His balance, stability and joint movements improved in addition to strength, dexterity and endurance.

He progressed from a walker to quad cane and is now able to walk independently with occasional use of a quad cane.

He is also able to walk greater distances with less fatigue.

The recurring pain resulting from a strain has improved but limits the rehab.

However, the improvements in balance and coordination have decreased his chances of falling.

Precautions for specific activities have been advised.

He is now independent in most daily living activities while needing limited supervision for some.
